LONDON – May 27, 2008 – NetIQ, an Attachmate business, today announced that Principality Building Society, the tenth largest Building Society in the UK, has selected NetIQ® Aegis™ as its new process automation platform to model, automate, measure and improve IT operational run books and processes within the organisation...

Principality Building Society specifically selected Aegis to automate time and labour-intensive tasks such as server re-boots, event response, server maintenance and new file system updates. As an existing NetIQ AppManager® customer, Principality Building Society was able to quickly see the platform’s benefits.

“The business case for deploying Aegis was straightforward; as with all organisations our challenge is to make the most efficient use of our resources,” said Marc Jones, IT Infrastructure Support Manager, Principality. “We were aware that our Service Desk teams were spending a considerable amount of time on mundane, repetitive tasks. For this reason, a management tool that could help automate tasks, such as the creation of service desk incidents for critical system events generated by AppManager, provides us with integration that reduces the complexity of our infrastructure. This not only helps us to improve IT operations efficiencies, but enables us to reallocate skills, time and resources toward more strategic areas where we can really add value.”

Another key reason for selecting NetIQ Aegis was the need to introduce more standardised procedures and systems to ensure that the same processes, such as system and service restarts, are identically executed each time to comply with best practices and minimise service impact. To this end, NetIQ Aegis will also help Principality Building Society automate processes across multiple departments and disciplines.

“With Aegis, NetIQ aims to enable organisations to take a more practical approach to process automation and, in doing so, to better control the cost of IT operations,” commented David Mount, UK Technical Director, NetIQ. “This is critical as customers look to eliminate highly repetitive tasks and strive to efficiently allocate their time to meet business requirements for growth. Aegis provides our customers with the ability to accomplish these goals across heterogeneous environments, thus delivering additional value around their existing IT management tool investments.”
